What about looking down? It just pops back. So, nice and smooth going up, and it pops down. So, let's take those two layers, or groups, let's move them below "Frontal," we'll go back to our "Record" tab, and let's see what happens. Let's go back to "Rig." So, as you can see, we have in-betweens, cycles, for our upward and downward, and they are above frontal in our "Head" group. So, let me show exactly what could happen. Now, if you have in-betweens in your head movements, so, for instance, I just put some smoothing in-betweens in for looking up and down, you have to make sure that your layers and your groups are in the right order, or it'll be smooth going one direction and it won't be the other. So, we'll go back to "Record," and anytime I click the "u" key, there it goes! My head pops into the up position.

So, let's go back to our "Rig" tab, and I'm going to select the "Upward" and I can click on the little plus sign over here, create a trigger, and to the little box to the left of "Upward" I'm going to type in "u" for "up." I've now created a trigger. Alright, so let's add a keyboard trigger to my upward movement. Click on "Record." Now as I rotate my head, you see it rotating up and down automatically with my head. And if I want all my head movements to be automatically generated by my camera as I turn my head, well, just select your Head Group over here, and we're going to go down to Behaviors, Click plus to add a new behavior, and select "Head Turner." Now, I find 100% jumps around too much, let's take that down closer to 50. So, for instance, if I click on the Downward Head, we see over here it's automatically tagged, but in this example, for some reason, my Upward is not tagged, so I simply highlight that group and I select the tag over here for Upward, and now it's tagged. So, when you bring your file into Character Animator, if you've properly named your groups and your layers, then they should automatically be tagged. So, when you create your Illustrator or Photoshop file, simply just create a folder or a group called "+Downward" and "+Upward" and put them into your "Head" group.

Just like every other head position, upward and downward can have full eye movement and blinks and mouth positions. But there's also downward and upward, and that can really enhance your head animation quite a bit.

So if we go over to the tags, you'll see all the different views, and the top five are the five that we see most often: frontal, left quarter, left profile, right quarter, right profile. Look! It's a bird! It's a plane! (upbeat music) So let's take a look at the different tags and head positions that are available in Character Animator. I see many people using head turns to enhance their puppets, but I see few people taking advantage of tilting head up or down.
